New Zealand guitarist John Donoghue (above) is best known for his career working with a long progression of NZ folk and rock bands. (see History Section)

The 'Timberjack Donoghue' project is a platform for his own original folkrock compositions.

The first of his songs recorded as Timberjack Donoghue was the single "Dahli Mohammed," released on the Ode (NZ) label. This became a nominee for New Zealand "Single of the Year Award" (1972) (Loxene Golden Disc)

The following year, while a guitarist in "The Human Instinct" he recorded a solo album of original folkrock songs for Ode entitled "Spirit of Pelorus Jack," which won New Zealand  "Album of the Year Award" (1973)

In 1975 he recorded one more album of original songs for Ode ("Timberjack Donoghue") before retiring from his solo career and returning to his life as a working musician. (see History Section)

In 2010 he recommenced his solo career by making the first of what became annual live performances showcasing his original repertoire. (see History: Chapter 4 part 4) These concerts took place on the Wakastage at Waitangi Treaty Grounds, Bay of Islands, New Zealand, each Waitangi Day (Feb 6th) from 2010 to 2021.

This official homesite contains the Timberjack Donoghue story as told in his own words.
